One responding officer checked the apartment complex on foot while his partner drove to nearby Sage Park at 1313 W. Lido Place.
That is where the officer-involved shooting happened around 12:40 a.m., according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt, who provided no further details about what led up to the confrontation.
Najera died at 1:41 a.m. at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, according to the coroner.
Wyatt says the deceased was not armed, the unidentified officer was wearing a body camera and that footage will be sent to the Orange County District Attorney's office, which investigates officer-involved shootings.
