Furries, Plushies and Voodoo Dolls Surround Family Murder Tragedy

Two men are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday for the slayings of a Fullerton couple and their male friend, while a 17-year-old female who was also booked today on suspicion of murder and conspiracy could be the daughter of the deceased woman.

The Fullerton Police Department distributed photos over the weekend of Katlynn Goodwill Yost, who was then missing from her mother and stepfather's home. The agency later announced the 17-year-old had been found safe.

The latter revelation came with the news that a teen of the same age had been arrested Sunday in the murders of Christopher Yost, 34, Jennifer Goodwill Yost, 39, and Arthur William Boucher, 28, at the Yost home at 401 S. Gilbert St., Fullerton.

State law prevents police agencies from releasing the names of minors arrested for crimes.

The 17-year-old teen was booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall, while Joshua Charles Acosta, 21, of Fort Irwin, and Frank Sato Felix, 25, of Sun Valley, were booked into Orange County Jail.

Katlynn Yost, who goes by “Katie,” is a Facebook friend of Acosta. She and Felix have posted separately on being bullied.

On various social media sites, Yost writes of belonging to the furry community. Those are made up of people who dress in animal costumes and take on new personas. Under the Twitter handle @Daydreamerfox, she tweeted of identifying with foxes, obtaining her first suit and of seeking a “handler.”

During a news conference Sunday afternoon, Fullerton Police Sgt. Jon Radus said the killings were not random and the victims knew their attackers.

A child inside the Yost home called 9-1-1 Saturday morning to report the deaths, and police arrived to find the 6- and 9-year-old children of Christopher and Jennifer Yost shaken but otherwise unharmed. The kids' older sister,  Katlynn Yost, was not there.

Police have not released details of the injuries to the Yosts or Boucher. The county coroner has not yet determined the time of deaths, only that the three bodies were found at 8:21 a.m. Saturday.

Boucher’s mother, Kimberly Gracier, was at a weekend vigil in front of the Yost home, where she mentioned to an Orange County Register reporter that Jennifer Yost was having trouble with Katlynn, who apparently wanted to date an older man.

Jennifer Dzikowski reports on Heavy that Chris and Katlynn Yost were Facebook friends but that she and her mother were not FB friends.

Dzikowski also digs deeper into the split in their relationship over the teen dating older men as well as Jennifer Yost's sale of crystals, “plushies” and voodoo dolls through her business Vixie's Creations and how she describes herself as an artist and hobbyist on jadenravendeviantart.com.
