UPDATE, OCT. 30, 11:50 A.M.: Dana Point is getting in on the DUI checkpointing tonight from 6 p.m. through 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

"The Costa Mesa Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint on Friday, October 30th at an undisclosed location within the city between the hours of 8 p.m. and 3 a.m."
The PD scared up funding for this operation from a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
