Does Loretta Sanchez Have “Retaliatory Hands”?

Poor Tan Nguyen. The only folks who pay attention to his perennial congressional campaigns are apparently in the local U.S. Attorney's office. Worse, nowadays Nguyen is proving better at collecting criminal charges than votes.

According to Martin Wisckol at the OC Register's Total Buzz blog, federal prosecutors have added a second obstruction of justice charge stemming from Nguyen's soiled 2008 effort to unseat Rep. Loretta Sanchez.

The case arose after Nguyen's campaign mailed a letter to 14,000 Latino voters in a brazen attempt to frighten them from voting as well as Ngueyn's questionable conduct in the aftermath that produced criminal investigations.

Dean Stewart–the onetime criminal defense lawyer for sheriff-turned-convicted-felon Mike Carona–is representing Nguyen and claims in a recent motion that Sanchez's “retaliatory hand . . . seems to loom large over this second indictment.”
I'm guessing both Carona and Nguyen like Stewart because of his sense of humor.
Back on earth, Nguyen finished last in the June Republican primary to determine Sanchez's November general election opponent. Van Tran, the assemblyman facing term limits, won.
