David Brian White Faces Federal Child Porn Rap, Too

UPDATE, JUNE 24, 12:23 P.M.: Huntington Beach resident David Brian White is already facing local charges of suspected child-pornography possession.

Now the feds are piling on.

Court documents filed June 15 show the federal grand jury indicted White on one count of distribution of child pornography and two counts of
possession of child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney's office tells the Orange County Register the 53-year-old's federal trial is scheduled to open Aug. 16.

At the time Huntington Beach police arrested White in November, charges were sought not only from the Orange County District Attorney's office but the U.S. Attorney because distribution of child porn is also a federal crime. Huntington Beach cops arrested White at a Fountain Valley home on Tuesday under the federal warrant.

Punishment under federal sentencing guidelines for child-porn crimes can also be more stringent than the state's, and a federal convict can spend a longer stretch in a penitentiary before he'd be eligible for parole from a state prison.

ORIGINAL POST, NOV. 3, 2010, 3:09 P.M.: Huntington Beach Police have routinely busted men through the use of officers posing as children on the Internet.

The latest is 52-year-old David Brian White, who was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography.

Detectives popped White for possession and distribution of child porn after serving a search warrant at his home at 8092 Graciadio Drive, Huntington Beach, around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He was already known to police, having been approached by Surf City cops seven years ago while taking photographs of people, including children, at the beach. No arrest came out of that.

White now has a Dec. 20 court date. Meanwhile, police urge the public to call 714.536.5991 if they know of any suspicious activity involving White and children.
