Daniel Hun Chun, LAPD Cop, Accused of Child Abuse That Could Imprison Him for 6 Years
A Los Angeles Police Department officer has been charged with child abuse for repeatedly striking a teen relative so severely for misbehavior and poor grades that it left welts and bruises.
Daniel Hun Chun, 39, had an arraignment hearing Friday that was continued to May 6 at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
He is out of custody after posting $100,000 bail.
Around 4 p.m. on March 13, Chun allegedly hit the victim repeatedly with a variety of household items on his shoulders, back and backside, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office.
A school counselor noticed the boy's wounds and contacted police, prosecutors add.
Chun is charged with felony child abuse and felony corporal injury on a child and faces up to six years in state prison with a conviction.
