3 Sentenced and 2 Charged with Sex Crimes Related to Pimping Girls

This week we discover that pimps can be sex offenders.

And some can be child rapists, too.

Take the cases of the following five folks.

Eddie Bridges III, a parolee sex offender on a GPS monitoring device, was recently sentenced to eight years in state prison for the pandering and attempted pimping of an 18-year-old woman. The 38-year-old Compton resident was wearing a GPS monitoring device as a parole condition and for being considered a high-risk registered sex offender when, between May 17-21, 2014, he drove the 18-year-old to an area of Santa Ana known for prostitution to pimp her out. Santa Ana cops picked the teen up around 3:50 a.m. on May 21, 2014, and later found Bridges in a nearby car that contained a ticket the woman had received in Los Angeles County on May 17, 2014, for loitering with the intent to engage in prostitution. Bridges was arrested on suspicion of being the woman's pimp, and his GPS monitoring device confirmed he had been near places she had worked as a prostitute. Orange County Deputy District Attorney Bryan Clavecilla won a conviction on one felony count of attempted pimping and one felony count of pandering by procuring. Sentencing enhancements were also found true for prior prison convictions in Los Angeles County in 2007 for the pimping and pandering of a minor, pimping and pandering of an adult, and a prior prison conviction in 2011 for attempted pandering, and serving separate prison terms but not remaining free for five years.

Another Compton resident, 29-year-old Alfonso Kee Kee Peterson, was recently sentenced to four years in state prison and lifetime sex offender registration for trying to pimp a 17-year-old girl he met on a social media site in June 2015. Actually, "the girl" was an undercover police officer. Peterson promised she could make $500 a day as a prostitute for him and continued to pursue her even after he thought she was a 17, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office. He was arrested outside a Long Beach restaurant.

Brandon Roosevelt Starks pleaded guilty Friday to trying to pimp out a 17-year-old girl he met on Facebook—but she was actually an undercover investigator with the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force, a partnership between the Anaheim Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Huntington Beach Police Department, Irvine Police Department, OCDA, Orange County Sheriff's Department, Santa Ana Police Department and community and non-profit partners. Starks, 31, of Fresno, was busted at a Van Nuys motel with his girlfriend, whom he also pimped out, on May 19, 2015. He was sentenced in Orange County Superior Court in Fullerton Friday to six years in state prison after copping to one felony count of attempted human trafficking, one felony count of pimping and one felony count of pandering. Starks was also ordered to pay restitution.

Raymond Lee Gibson and his girlfriend Crystal Nicole Coleman have been charged with forcible rape and oral copulation of a 15-year-old girl who had fled from an Orange County motel room where they had allegedly forced her to work as a prostitute. The Orange County District Attorney's office accuses Gibson, 27, of Colton, of choking the girl to the point where she could not breathe during a sexual assault aimed at keeping her in line. Coleman, 25, of Las Vegas, allegedly got other prostitutes to sexually assault the teen as well, the OCDA claims. The incidents were reported by the girl to law enforcement in San Bernardino County, where she had also been trafficked, on June 11, and four days later Gibson and Coleman allegedly pimped a second female in an Orange County motel room. That same day, they were arrested by members of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force. Gibson and Coleman, who is accused of being his enforcer as his highest ranking prostitute, were charged Friday with one felony count of forcible oral copulation, one felony count of forcible rape, one felony count of lewd acts upon a child, one felony count of human trafficking of a minor, one felony count of pandering with a minor under 16 years old by procuring, one felony count of pimping a minor, one felony count of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, one felony count of pandering by procuring, and one felony count of pimping. Each also face a sentencing enhancement allegation for human trafficking of a minor by force or fear. Gibson additionally faces a sentencing enhancement allegation for a 2008 prior strike conviction for second degree robbery in Riverside County. The maximum sentence for each is life in state prison, according to prosecutors.
