$25 Big Bear Ski Lift Tickets Go on Sale TODAY; Mammoth Mountain Opens TOMORROW
Thank you, global warming!
Lift tickets for $25 each to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain in Big Bear go on sale this morning through Friday morning. Is there a catch? You betcha!
Meanwhile, Mammoth Mountain outside Bishop opens Thursday morning. Is there snow? Apparently!
The Big Bear Visitors Bureau is offering the $25 midweek tickets--that's about 60 percent off the regular rack rate and the lowest lift ticket price offered at Snow Summit or Bear Mountain in decades--from 10 this morning through 10 a.m. Friday.
To qualify, you must book at least one night lodging accommodations--Sunday through Thursday non-holiday and skiing or riding Monday through Friday non holiday--during the 2014-2015 winter season. Big Bear Visitors Bureau is also offering a 25 percent discount on all lodging reservations, and some select December and March weekends will also qualify for the $25 lift ticket special, although those tickets will be bundled with 15 percent off lodging. The one-time, 48-hour, ticket-lodging sale is available online at www.bigbear.com at 10 a.m. today through 10 a.m. Friday, or by phone at 800.424.4232 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. "The $25 Lift Ticket & Discount Lodging Offer" must be mentioned at the time of booking. There is limited availability, blackout dates and other restrictions may apply. It cannot be used with any other specials or promotions. There is a limit of two ski lift tickets per itinerary. More tickets may be purchased at 25 percent off the regular rack rate for all age groups. Stop using if you go blind, fall deaf and experience an erection lasting more than four hours. And for God's sake, STOP ITCHING THAT!!!

The San Bernardino Mountaineers report the Big Bear area experienced a slight dusting of snow on Nov. 1 and snowmaking is expected over the next two weeks aimed at a Thanksgiving weekend opening. Keep your glove fingers crossed!
After that same early November storm, Mammoth was digging out of 12 to 16 inches of snow.
Yeah, I'd say they have snow. This was shot on Nov. 3.

Mammoth also has snowmaking, of course, and claim they're opening on Thursday. But $25 tickets? Um ... no.
