Young the Giant are the home boys that sneakily made good–Morrissey loves them, they've played the Weenie Roast, are opening for Incubus on tour this year…and today MTV announced that Young the Giant will make their VMA performance debut at the 2011 Video Music Awards.
The lineup for VMA performers include Adele, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown, and the show will air live from Nokia Theater on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 9 p.m.

If you remember, Morrissey was so impressed by Young The Giant's performance on
Later With Jools Holland that he expressed his fandom via a note posted on a
Morrissey Zine website: “I could break down with happiness at the new
debut CD by Young The Giant. It is the whole thing … it is the perfect
tone … and Sameer's voice is unbreakable. If there is any justice in
the world (and we all know there isn't) Young The Giant will own most of
it by August… Every three thousand years, a band comes along who
restore that precious component of faith.”
The band will also put out a free Remix EP later this month though
their Facebook page, which will feature remixes by Two Door Cinema
Club, Tokyo Police Club, Ra Ra Riot, and more. You can still remix Young the Giant songs; stems for six
tracks can be downloaded here. The band will choose
one winner from all of the submissions and have that remix
included on the EP.
Young the Giant will be
the only band to support Incubus on their first tour in three years; tour dates below.
