Plugged Into Local 2.0 Kicks Off With Tapioca and the Flea, Dec. 3 at the Wayfarer

We realize the holidays are creeping up, and soon it'll be time to defrost the turkey, chop down evergreens, and plug in an ungodly amount of festive lights. Of course, we at Heard Mentality would rather just watch a bunch of cool bands plug in their instruments and play a show. Since we're in such a giving mood these days, we're fired up about bringing back our free music series, Plugged Into Local. The event, sponsored by Heineken, is happening on Dec. 3 at the Wayfarer in Costa Mesa. After taking a year off, we're finally ready to get back out there to give bands an outlet to rock and shock the shit out of you, just in time for the holidays.

Thanks to a partnership with the Wayfarer and sponsorship from Heineken, we're doing it even better this year right from the get-go. Locals Only column alumni's and rising stars Tapioca and the Flea are headlining the show. You may have noticed the dancey, electro rock outfit are getting plenty of traction in the music world lately, opening for marquee indie acts or garnering enviable amounts of radio play. And we even dug 'em enough to call them OC's Best New Band this year. We're psyched to have them along with the imaginative indie rock from our faves The Gromble and the engulfing, electro pop of Glorious Wondour. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. Oh, yeah…it's FREE, did we say that?

Also important to note is that we'll also have a Christmas toy drive going on in conjunction with America on Track. The charities' mission statement is to “help children & families from all walks of life move toward a brighter future.” So PLEASE bring a new, unwrapped toy with you–along with your smiling face and dancing shoes. We'll be sure to remind you as it gets closer, but mark your calendars NOW and come early to help us stuff the Wayfarer like a Thanksgiving Turkey.
