Menomena and Kiev Kick Off Segerstrom Center's Indie Band Series

On May 24, you can see for yourself why Riley Breckenridge from Thrice is such a Menomena fanboy.  The Portland band kicks off Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Indie Band Series in Samueli Theater, with local band Kiev (winner of the Best Indie Band at the 2011 OC Music Awards) opening.

We didn't catch their close-to-noon set at Coachella, but we heard that while Brent Knopf's departure in January made a difference in their sound, it was still a great set.

Indie Bands is the contemporary musical element of Segerstrom Center's
Off Center Series; Peter, Bjorn and John, Cold War Kids and Matt Costa have all performed before at the all-ages series.

Tickets to see Menomena and Kiev go on sale Monday, April 25. They are
$20 for general admission on the main floor, which is standing-room only
and $40 for the VIP loft. Tickets will be available online at
SCFTA.org, at the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa or
