50 Cent Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges in Van Nuys

Though he's laid low for the past few years, rapper 50 Cent is back in the news, but not for a new verse or another wise investment like he had with Vitamin Water. No, the New York rapper was arrested for allegedly injuring an ex-girlfriend and destroying more than $7,000 worth of property, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday.

Fiddy is charged with one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism after he allegedly kicked open both a bedroom door and his ex-girlfriend. This happened after she locked herself inside a bedroom at a Toluca Lake condo during an argument on June 23. You can probably assume that they're not getting back together after this incident.

Los Angeles police officers called to the scene saw broken chandeliers and broken furniture throughout the woman's condominium, and found a ransacked bedroom closet with her clothing thrown all over the floor, along with a broken television and lamp, according to the City Attorney's Office. The rapper fled the scene leaving his shorty to answer the cops' 21 questions about the incident.

“Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office,'' said City Attorney Mike Feuer.

If he's convicted of all counts in Van Nuys Superior Court, the rapper could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines, according to the City Attorney's Office. Fiddy won't be seeing the candy shop anytime soon if found guilty.
