Yankee Doodle

Do you often sit about the house, wondering what Knott's Berry Farm would look like if it were filled with hairy, fat men? Oh, wait. It's always filled with hairy, fat men. But this weekend, those fat, hairy men will be wearing uniforms and carrying antique guns! That's right, kids: This Presidents' Day weekend, Knott's Berry Farm will provide youngsters the opportunity to step back in time as the popular amusement park's pavilion is transformed into a Civil War encampment, thanks to the folks at the Richmond Howitzer Historical Association. Stop by and experience the sights and sounds of the Civil War with displays of authentic artillery pieces and calvary equipment, as well as demonstrations of period cooking, dances and infantry drills, plus special living-history presentations throughout the day. Sure, re-enacting a war at an amusement park may seem a little out of place-kind of like depicting a mass suicide at a preschool-but this glorification of one of our country's bloodiest wars is for the kids, too!
