Tributo a las Divas Cubanas

Summer is the season to catch a great concert series, but the Museum of Latin American Art is coming with a little more sabor. A tribute to Afro-Cuban divas kicks off a monthly Summer Sunday celebration at MOLAA. Backed by the West Coast Salsa Orchestra, singer Yordamis Megret resurrects the songs of Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Celeste Mendoza, and Graciela live. Among the greatest voices in Cuban music history, there are some serious reinas being honored: La Lupe was known as the Queen of Latin Soul, Celia Cruz was the famed Queen of Salsa, and Graciela was the First Lady of Latin Jazz. Before relocating to the United States, Megret was a star in her own right during her time in Cuba as frontwoman for Bamboleo. Look for her to deliver a powerful retrospective that will get those hips in motion!
