Not since sex, drugs and rock 'n roll has the combination of three things sounded like so much fun. The Ribs, Pigs & Watermelons BBQ competition and beer festival hits the sands of Huntington Beach this weekend. With watermelon carving, a watermelon seed-spitting contest, rib-eating contest, live music, and even a kids BBQ burger and steak competition, this food festival brings together all the seminal tastes of summer. So bid a sauce-covered farewell to the season with ribs, chops, pulled pork, sausages and plenty of cold beer. And to make this event even more palatable, proceeds benefit American Family Housing, an organization dedicated to helping homeless and low-income families find shelter.
