Remember that feeling you got whenever your artwork was displayed? Whether it was your second-grade teacher taping your Cubist interpretation of the neighbors cat to her desk or your mom sticking some Crayola-scribbled flowers to the refrigerator door, it always felt really fucking good to be encouraged and recognized for somethingand thats true for people of any age. Now imagine how the kids attending four Santa Ana elementary schoolsEsqueda, Jackson, Roosevelt and Walkerfeel about having their drawings, paintings, prints, collages and mixed-media pieces on display at a real gallery. Artists Cheryl Michelon and Helen Seigal instructed these students as a part of the Santa Ana Unified School Districts Artist-in-the-Schools program, and now their hard work is up for you to see at Orange Coast College Art Center.
