Plan 9 From Outer Space

“Can your heart stand the shocking facts of grave robbers from space?” More than fifty years ago, the hack television psychic Criswell spoke those words of warning as the opening lines of the forever-campy sci-fi flick Plan 9 From Outer Space, earnestly written and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr. It’s been declared as the worst movie ever made, but for the so-bad-its-good movie cult, this film is like Christmas. Adapted for the stage by Maverick Theater’s Brian Newell, this is a winning homage that faithfully reconstructs every painstakingly awful detail—the inept dialogue, the inconsistent acting styles, terribly built sets, and yes, even those cheesy flying saucers. Cast, crew and audience are in on the joke this time—so feel free to laugh away as soon as Criswell launches into that hilariously bad introduction.

Fridays, Saturdays, 9:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 4. Continues through Oct. 26, 2013
