Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Don't call them drag queens, these are drag prima ballerinas! Conceived in the “late-late shows in Off-Off Broadway lofts,” Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is a group of surprisingly skilled male dancers crammed into sequined tu-tus and tights, dedicated to bringing the world comedic gold through light-hearted versions of classic ballet. This weekend, the troupe comes back to the Carpenter Center for a delightfully campy rendition of this traditional dance form coupled with perfectly timed tumbles, missteps, and some very un-ballerina-like behavior. While the Trocks' rendition of the famous “Dying Swan” scene (which leaves the stage covered in molted fluff and feathers) will always be our favorite, we can't wait to see what kitschy choreography they've dreamt up since we saw them last.
