Frost/Nixon

The Maverick Theater is known for their “Staged Cinema,” theater adapted from or into popular films. Richard Nixon is known for his abnormally large nose. See both at the Maverick this week, where a production of Frost/Nixon is taking place. Directed by Brian Newell and written by Peter Morgan, Frost/Nixon follows British comedian and journalist David Frost during a series of interviews with disgraced ex-President Richard Nixon. Nixon’s camp, thinking that they’ve found a way for him to redeem himself in the eyes of the public, agree to the interviews. Nixon dominates the first sections of these interviews, leaving Frost discouraged and facing the end of his serious journalistic career, forever relegated to comedy, satire and variety shows. However, buoyed by an unexpected phone call, Frost finds the fire necessary to carry on and, ultimately, take burn Nixon at his own game.
