Jim Washburn's Latest Presentation Shows What British Invasion Did to Orange County

A local author, historian and former OC Weekly editor/columnist discusses a subject that is very much associated with your favorite Orange County-based alt.-rag that debuted in 1995: the 1964-1966 “British Invasion.”

Actually, there is an OC twist to Jim Washburn's presentation. He'll yakkity-yak about the U.K.-born phenomenon's “effect on the culture/psyche/zeitgeist/hemlines of 1960s Orange County.”

No one would have a better grasp on the subject than our former “Lost in O.C.” columnist.

“Some have called me the dean of OC rock journalists,” he writes in a Facebook announcement. “I hope to prove that I'm the Jerry.”

Local journalism's disorderly orderly begins his lecture at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fullerton Museum Center, 301 N. Pomona Ave., Fullerton. Admission is $4 (or less for students and the disadvantaged) but that includes access to the museum's current British Invasion exhibit and ongoing Fender Guitar Co. display. Call (714) 738-6545 for more information.
