Winter Dance Party: Tribute to Buddy Holly

The real Winter Dance Party was the last show Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper ever played—the same night a young Waylon Jennings lost a coin toss that kept him off a plane destined to crash on “the day the music died”—but John Mueller’s Winter Dance Party is all about the good times before the bad times. With Mueller as Holly, Ray Anthony as Valens and Jay Richardson as his father the Big Bopper, it’s a revival revue culling from the many classics in the discographies of these three rock ‘n’ roll giants. (Approved by all the families, too, so you don’t need to have any misgivings.) One of the few times you’ll really see someone hammering at a Stratocaster on the Cerritos Center stage—relish it!
