Mysterious Objects: Portriats of Joan Quinn

For a person respectfully referred to as “a living work of art” by esteemed pop art painter Mel Ramos, “Mysterious Objects: Portraits of Jan Quinn” is a befitting tribute. Quinn, whose resume reads former West Coast editor of Interview (appointed by Andy Warhol), current primary NGO delegate to the United Nations and longest sitting member of the California Arts Council, she is a valuable asset to and treasured supporter of the art world. We personally love The Joan Quinn Profiles, where she interviews artists, actors and designers in an amaiable, informal manner—in this, you can see the undeniable warmth and creativity she possesses. Currently on display at Santa Ana College, the exhibit is comprised of 50 portraits of Quinn from contemporary artists such as Charles Arnoldi, Jean Michel Basquiat, David Hockney, Robert Mapplethorpe and others created over the past four decades. Living work of art, indeed.

Mondays-Thursdays, 10 a.m. Starts: Sept. 21. Continues through Nov. 1, 2011
