Billy Elliot

Movies usually ruin a good story. They find something great in a play or a book, then they stink it all up with their dumb camera angles, fake explosions and drug-addicted actors. But Billy Elliot did the opposite—in this instance, theater imitated film and the results are anything but stinky. The 2009 Tony Award-winning Best Musical features a score by Elton John, amazing dance choreography and on-stage smoking. It's sure to inspire all in attendance as they watch young, motherless Billy buck social conventions as he trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes and dances his little heart out. Warning: you may cry a little, but it won’t ruin anything. Except maybe your makeup.
