Hate to be a buzzkill right before St. Patrick's de Drinko, but man, this week sucked in food news.
Let's recap, shall we? (Spoiler alert: We're all gonna die.)
We learned that . . .
All red meat is terrible. In a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, people who consumed about one 3-ounce serving of red meat (beef, pork or lamb) per day had a 13% greater chance of dying during the study. That doesn't even include bacon, hot dogs and other processed meat. (Los Angeles Times)
Fatty food kills off sperm. A study published in Human Reproduction showed that men who ate the most saturated fat had 35 percent fewer sperm than men who ate the least. Watch those babymakers! (NPR)
Imported food is making people sick. New data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that foodborne disease outbreaks rose in 2009 and 2010. The most common culprits were fish and spices. (Baltimore Sun)
