OC Grub Guide For April 21-27: Beer, Wine And Chef Mead


Another day, another Grub Guide. This is easily one of the busiest guides we’ve compiled. Except for Fountain Valley’s fundraiser, it’s turning out to be a beach city kind of weekend.

Vince Ferragamo’s Wine Dinner Meet & Greet at Back Bay Bistro – Newport Beach

Going on tonight, find out what $67 and a former football player can get you. Reservations are required, and the fun begins at 6 p.m. Our favorite course is the rock shrimp and lobster risotto.

Cooking With Chef Mead| Spring Flavors for Spring Salads at Roger’s Gardens – Corona del Mar
This one-hour demo is not only free of charge, but features a chef preparing to launch his next concept. Rich Mead’s 2 p.m. Saturday appearance includes a discussion on the different flavors, textures and combinations to create a seasonal salad. Stay afterwards to stroll the grounds and do some garden shopping.

Micro-brew Fest – San Clemente
Hosted by Left Coast Brewing Co, attendees will enjoy beverages at the 5th annual festival starting at noon on Saturday. Food booths may be cash only, but your $35-$40 admission includes a dozen, 4-oz samplers. Click here for ticket information.


Moulin French Wine Tasting – Newport Beach

Their first in a series of monthly educational seminars, Saturday’s 6-8 p.m. focus is on the Rhone region. Priced at $29, these include all wines, cheese, charcuterie and artisan bread. Grab a drinking partner and make an evening of it.

Newport Beach Beerfest 
If you prefer some tunes with your brews, this evening shindig is perfect. Going on Saturday from 7-10 p. m. at Newport Dunes, scheduled performances include Hoobastank, Alien Ant Farm, and Kottonmouth Kings. Tickets are between $40-65, depending on when you buy


Taste of Fountain Valley

The first of two “Tastes”, The Center Founders Village will be buzzing from 6-10 p.m. Proceeds benefit Fountain Valley Schools Foundation. Local restaurants Slice, Stonefire, Naugles, Barley Forge and ST Patisserie Chocolat are among the bites you’ll encounter this Saturday. Ticket’s range from $70-$195, and can be purchased here.

Taste of Huntington Beach

VIP guests will be granted access one hour earlier on Sunday over at Huntington Beach Sports Complex (7111 Talbert Ave). The general public will enter at noon for this fundraiser benefiting the HB Children’s Library. The Corner, Slapfish, solita, Saint Marc and BLK Earth Sea Spirits are just a few of the vendors represented at this all-inclusive event.

 
Walk, Wine & Dine – Huntington Beach

Learn some history as you stroll and sample numerous cuisines in downtown Huntington Beach. This ongoing tour is held every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday starting at 2 p.m. Pricing runs from $65-75, and inquiring minds can learn more here
