  1. There aren’t any good American Food restaurants in Irvine any more….TIC has pushed them all out in favor of “other” foods.

    1. You are absolutely correct. TIC is only supporting the Asian Fusian style restaurants that they think will be patronized by the young yuppies who have money to spend. We truly miss the American and Continental style comfort foods like Elephant Bar, Outback, IHOP, Dickies BBQ, and other family style restaurants too numerous to mention.
Our only alternatives are to go to Mission Viejo, Tustin, Dana Point or other cities outside of Irvine. Don’t the citizens of Irvine want to keep the money and taxes here in Irvine? We just don’t have the power to fight back. TIC Stinks. They should do EVERYTHING in their power to keep the rents in Irvine manageable for small businesses and try their best to keep the good ones that are popular with folks like us in Irvine for as long as possible.

    2. What is the problem with “other” foods. It’s great that Irvine is diversifying it’s food scene. “American” cuisine is pretty limited so of course you won’t be seeing it everywhere.

    3. While I’m usually all about hating on them and their local monopoly, this comment irks me. Irvine Company typically pushes things out that don’t have the sales volume or follow trends that will expand their user base, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s not any different from any other company removing an underperforming product. If the primary demographic in an area has switched to be predominantly mixed ethnicity or the entire area trends towards fad foods regardless of ethnicity, it’s kind of silly to fault them for following the customers’ spending habits and interests. Being frustrated with a Zion Market, a full-on Asian food grocery store, hosting a Korean hot dog place inside of it is just silly.

That being said, there’s still plenty of “American” food at Irvine Company properties, usually leaning on the dining end, not the small shops and stands. Paul Martins, Del Frisco’s, and Tendergreens come to mind at the Spectrum without looking anything up.

    4. Patrick, you’re probably the minority (white) in an Asian dominant locale, so yeah you’re going to find more “other foods”. And tbh, there is no American food. Everything we eat originated from another country.
