Bayside

Guilty pleasure alert: Although New York emo band Bayside dedicate a lot of their lyrical material to hopelessness and wanting to give up on life, they actually play really catchy music. Their brand of pop punk so infectious they somehow manage to transcend themselves. Though songs such as “I Can't Go On” find singer Anthony Raneri dramatically begging to have the air deflated from his lungs, the guitars chug along with an infectious midtempo, palm-muted melody that rattles around the sweet spots of the brain. And luckily for the younger people in the audience, the show starts early.
