On Friday April 26th on Long Beach’s 4th Street Retro Row, a new Progressive bookstore, PAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE presents the Opening Reception for POETS, PROTESTERS, AND PANTHERS: 1960s California Counterculture, photography by JIM COKE and TAKASHI SUZUKI.
The exhibit features powerful and stirring imagery from the height of the 1960s counterculture movement including marches, sit-ins, rallies, and radicals. Artist Jim Coke will be in attendance along with live poetry readings by Joan Jobe Smith & Fred Voss, and music by Dos Marauders.
The event is free and takes place from 6-10pm at 2714 E. 4th St. in Long Beach, in conjunction with the monthly street-wide Fourth Fridays event along Retro Row.
