The fifth-annual LB Zine Fest celebrated the scene with 120 zine vendor and art booths, independent bands, and food pop-ups. Among the seasoned zine creators in attendance were artists selling their works for the first time. While some may see themselves as outcasts, the fest gives them a chance to connect with other makers.

“The LB Zine Fest is a special place because there are a lot of like-minded people appreciating your art,” illustrator and muralist Dave Van Patten said. “If you were going to try to sell your art in a farmers’ market, it’s a lot of people who don’t understand. But here it’s a very niche crowd, and we’re all into a crude illustration style.”
