Join us for a celebration of the Lunar New Year and experience the beauty of Chinese music being played on traditional instruments. With the sounds of bowed and plucked strings, winds, and percussion, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra evokes vivid imagery of China’s splendor in a vibrant performance of traditional folksongs and newly orchestrated works

A fascinating musical evening in which East meets West, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra reprises its celebrated New Oriental Music Scene program, which opened the 18th Shanghai International Arts Festival and toured throughout Europe to critical acclaim. Hear famous works such as “Dancing Birds” (adapted from A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix), “The Silk Road,” and “Farewell to My Concubine,” along with riveting performances of contemporary pieces such as “Flying Birds,” adapted from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee.”
