Andrew Youssef

The Black Keys at the Glass House on April 17, 2009.

Our longtime photographer and friend Andrew Youssef died on Saturday after a long and public battle with cancer. He chronicled the trials and triumphs of living with cancer in his column, Last Shot. He gained national attention when Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails FaceTimed Youssef mid-concert in Las Vegas because he was to ill to attend.

We asked Andrew which concerts he was most proud of shooting for the Weekly before he passed, and these are the concerts he picked. Rest peacefully, Andrew.

My Voice Nation Help

I've always been inspired by Andrew's story. He stared down the face of adversity to pursue the things in life he had a passion for. He brought dignity and professionalism to the photo pit, and was well respected by his peers. He made a lasting contribution to the world of rock photography. He will be remembered for his courage.

Like many in the NIN community, I feel like I lost a friend I never knew.   RIP, Andrew, and thank you for sharing so much with all of us.

Goodbye Andrew, you are already greatly missed.
