Tokyo noise duo Melt Banana opened up to a crowd of metal heads that were surprisingly (to me) really into it. I always thought of them as a weirdo, extremely niche type band exclusively for a specific type of music nerd, but hey, I won't complain. Also from across the pond, Napalm Death performed a crushing display of unrelenting grind from all eras of their catalogue. Even “You Suffer”, which clocking in at .45 seconds might be the shortest song in the world. Towards the end they played a very untraditional cover of “Nazi Punks Fuck Off” by Dead Kennedys, and around this time was when the crowd for the Mobb Deep show happening directly after this one started trickling in with the most uncomfortable, confused looks on their faces.
Of course I stuck around for the Mobb Deep show. It smelled heavily of grape Swisher Sweets and everyone wanted to snapchat with me.
