Foie gras, specialy-fattened duck or goose liver, has been a subject of great contention in California. It will soon be contraband in California and with the July 1 ban date approaching, the debate has heated up. Haven Gastropub in Orange served a multi-chef, multi-course foie gras dinner on May 15 and the event was greeted by anti-foie gras animal rights activists. The activists disapprove of foie gras because of the nature of how the duck is force-fed so as to fatten the liver.
