Weekend Openings: Honda Center Eateries And Stax Cookie Bar Fundraiser

Halloween may be a couple of weeks away, but there are no tricks in this blog post. Only treats. For hockey fans and concert-goers, your preferred Anaheim venue is launching not one, but FIVE outlets today. Everybody else can go get dessert and support some schools in the process.

We start our roundup inside the Honda Center, where Wahoo's gets all official with a party out on their patio. The first 50 fish taco die-hards to visit the Ducks Red Carpet before the team's home opener today will receive a wristband, granting them access to giveaways, a DJ and of course, dinner. For the rest of us, there are other places to try.

Terrace level patrons can head over to a pair of eateries. Stick Work specializes in dining with skewers, with bites like grilled watermelon, bacon-wrapped hot dog and deep fried Twinkie. Next door at Bowl'd Over, it's a pasta party including gluten free lasagna and a pound of meatball over penne.

On the Plaza level, Stoneworks fires up pizzas and gourmet sandwiches in their fancy oven. Although most surprising to this Weekling is the replacement of Puck's Tavern with Standing 'O'. Gourmet burgers, craft beers and signature apps are all in their lineup. Talk about options. We may need to catch a show to check them all out.

Saturday is fundraiser day at Stax Cookie Bar in Irvine. The IPSF (Irvine Public Schools Foundation) will receive 20% of all sales made from 10 a.m. to midnight. Ice cream flavors from Fosselman's and cookies baked fresh daily are a compelling argument, not that we need an excuse to come out here. It's also their ribbon cutting day, despite being open since Monday. Excuse us while we affogoto . . .coffee is calling our name.

Stax Cookie Bar is located at 4187 Campus Dr, Suite M174 (next to where Cha for Tea is located), (949) 861-2055;www.staxcookiebar.com.
