[UPDATED with Opening Date!] Front Porch Pops, Handmade Popsicle Cart, To Open Brick-And-Mortar Shop In Old Towne Orange

Update: The shop has an opening date! Front Porch Pops will open at 5 p.m. on July 11 with a weekend of “poptacular festivities” and giveaways.

Exciting news for fans of Erin Whitcomb's Front Porch Pops, OC's traveling popsicle cart known for its refreshingly awesome flavors such as Balsamic Strawberry Creamsicle, Mango Chili and Ain't Misbehavin' Mojito.

The homegrown company is going brick-and-mortar with a new shop in Old Towne Orange, expected to open next month.

Whitcomb, who started the business two years ago with just a cart and a blender, says whenever customers would try the ice pops, they'd want more. “The question was always, 'Where can I buy these when you aren't at this (insert farmer's market/food truck event/festival/birthday party)?'”

She says the new storefront will offer all the tasty pops fans have come to love, including their best-selling Dark Chocolate Sea Salt pop, plus a few surprises.

(SNEAK PREVIEW: A full line of frozen bananas inspired by Arrested Development characters is in the works. For example, The Blue Man will be dipped in white chocolate and blueberries. YES!)

Last fall, Front Porch Pops added fresh-baked pies to their menu, and those will be available for pre-order at the store as well.

The shop will be located next to Watson Drugs & Soda Fountain. Whitcomb is aiming to do a soft opening in early June and a grand opening event shortly after. In the meantime, catch the cart at its regular stops by following its schedule on Twitter.
