This Week In Food: Tamale Songs, a Disastrous Beerfest, and Beating the Wait at the Border

Hello ladies and gents, sorry we missed you last week! Let's take a look at what happened this week in food…

Edwin visited the darling Taco Maria at its new home in the OC Mix for his weekly review. Then he announced that Craftsman, a wood-fired pizza place, will be opening in Placentia, and a Ways N Means Oyster House will be opening in Orange!

Gustavo went to Aleppo's Kitchen in Anaheim for his Hole in the Wall review. Then he named 10 of the greatest songs about tamales (bet you didn't even know such a thing existed) and he made a big announcement that Mexico is outlawing the use of GMO corn.

Charles described the disaster that was the Ultimate Beerfest at the OC Fairgrounds. He told us that Huntington Beach wants to ban styrofoam, and he went on a necessary rant about why it's stupid to compare In-N-Out and Five Guys. (In-N-Out is better)

Anne Marie spoke with chef David Paul Fuñe of Splashes in Laguna Beach for her On The Line column. She told us that BO-beau Kitchen + Rooftap (yeah, tap, not top), an SD-based restaurant is coming to Long Beach. And she pulled back the first wrappings of Christmas and told us that a Harry and David is now open at South Coast Plaza.

Sarah went to Miliana's New York Pizzeria for her Long Beach Lunch. Niyaz Pirani told us to eat the house special squid at Royal Captain Seafood – now! Dave gave us a ton of tips for beating the line at the Mexico border and Bill foreshadowed some problems for the Valle de Guadalupe's agriculture. Taylor, our dive bar expert, told us about the best spots in town. And our new food writer, Ryan Cady, gave us five places to go for dinner if you're dating a vegan.

Until next time, have a good one, from all of us at Stick A Fork In It!
