This Week In Food: A Medieval Times Movie, Al Capone's Niece, and Bringin' Home the Banana Stand

Whew, Mother's Day is over, and the rush for goodies and presents can die down until, well, whenever that paternal holiday is. Let's take a look at what the week after had to offer. . . .

Edwin reviewed the South County chain Inka Mama's. Then he told us that Layer Cake Bakery is opening a second location in Fullerton and that Burger King is introducing its own version of the McRib–because what America really needs is more fast-food rib sandwiches. And he shared his short and pithy experience of waiting in line for 45 minutes at Cream Pan on Mother's Day.

Gustavo went to Pho Quyen in Westminster for Hole In the Wall, and then he told us that a Little Saigon restaurant received the Good Food treatment on KCRW. Last, he stuck with radio and gave us a preview of KLAA's SoCal Restaurant Show, on which our own Bill Esparza was a guest!

Michelle announced that Fullerton's Early Bird Cafe will begin a dinner service and that a pretty cute, gourmet cafeteria called Lemonade will be opening at Fascist Island–more to come on that. Then she shared the possibility of the Medieval Times dinner theater being made into a movie. Best or worst idea ever?

Anne Marie named the Heavenly Hendrick's at Stonehill Tavern in Dana Point as the Drink of the Week, then she interviewed Tony Lu from the Slummin' Gourmet food truck for her On the Line column. And last, she spoke with Al Capone's niece about cooking with the infamous legend.

Dave had some Viking Bread in Baja for our Tijuana Sí! column, and then he shared the opening of another new restaurant in Santa Ana called Little Sparrow. Doesn't get more hipster than that, guys. Ali Lerman had a quick interview with Chopped chef, Marc Murphy, and Matt Coker asked us to sign a petition to bring Bluth's Banana Stand back home (do it!). And I suggested everyone try the $5 Queso Fundido burger at Lola Gaspar.

Until next time, have a good one, from all of us at Stick a Fork in It!

  1. I recently tried CBD gummies from this website https://www.cornbreadhemp.com/products/cbd-sleep-gummies as a replacement for the pre-eminent time and was pleasantly surprised next to the results. Initially skeptical, I create that it significantly helped with my desire and sleep issues without any unconcealed side effects. The grease was serene to use, with nitid dosage instructions. It had a merciful, lusty liking that was not unpleasant. Within a week, I noticed a patent improvement in my total well-being, hunch more serene and rested. I appreciate the unstudied approach to wellness CBD offers and plan to at using it.
