This Wednesday: Gringo Bandito Taco Challenge Featuring The Return of Kobayashi

Get ready for some food-scarfing mayhem.

As our music blog Heard Mentality reported, the Offspring front man (and Weekly coverdude) Dexter Holland is bringing us the Gringo Bandito Taco Challenge on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Fred's Mexican Café in downtown Huntington Beach. Some of the world's greatest competitive eaters will go stomach-to-stomach for a $5,000 grand prize.
Headlining the lineup of gurgitators is competitive-eating legend Takeru Kobayashi. As you may remember, the six-time winner of Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest was unable to participate last year due to a labor impasse, but he went as a spectator anyway, and then he got arrested after climbing onstage. This will be his first U.S. competitive-eating contest since that incident.
