The OC Foodie Fest Rolls Into Town

Remember when we asked if OC was ready for a street food festival?

Well, ready or not, here it comes! The OC Foodie Fest will take place Saturday, August 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Honda Center in beautiful Anaheim.

As of this writing, 34 food trucks have committed; the organizers are hoping for a total of 50. Proceeds will go to three OC charities: Pretend City Children's Museum in Irvine, Child S.H.A.R.E., an outreach program to find foster families, and St. Vincent's Meals on Wheels.

There'll be live music; Ludo Fried Chicken; our very own Filipino food blogger truck, Burnt Lumpia; and masses and masses of hungry people.

Learn a lesson from previous food truck flash mobs, from downtown L.A. to Calabasas: get there early, go in groups (so you can divide and conquer) and, above all, be patient.

Free tip: the Honda Center is directly on the Santa Ana River Trail, a paved bike trail that goes from Corona to Huntington and Newport Beaches; park for free someplace else along the train, bring a bike, and chain it up when you get there. You'll be glad you did.

See you there!
