The Cottage In Laguna Closing December 26

After 48 years of serving locals, The Cottage Restaurant in Laguna Beach announced on their Facebook page that they will be closing. An unforeseen land sale is forcing their departure. Owner Jennifer McCulley plans to throw a bittersweet social next week to remember their time along PCH.

It is best known for brunches and their cozy vibe inside an honest-to-gosh cottage built in 1917. A historic landmark, previous incarnations included Laguna Vista Cafe and The Pancake Cottage before a final renovation made it The Cottage in the middle of '64.

Their holiday/goodbye party is scheduled for Thursday, December 6– the same evening as the city's First Thursdays monthly art walk. Refreshments will feature homemade chili and cornbread with hot apple cider, complements of McCulley. Retail therapy in the form of jewelery and ornament vendors, as well as psychic readings are in store.

Per McCulley, “I had no idea the building and land were being offered for sale. I was notified after the deal was nearly completed. This has been a difficult time and I'm not sure what the future brings, but I have to believe that all will work out for the best.” Sometimes, that's all you can do.
