The Agony of Defeat: Victory Bakery Closes in Anaheim

Victory Bakery, the largest restaurant in Anaheim's Little Arabia, has closed. Edwin reviewed its iftar (Ramadan fast-breaking meal) two and a half years ago, and it was one of the first places I reviewed on my own neglected blog before coming to this casa de desmadre.

The huge displays of every kind of rosewater- and honey-scented sweet, the gelato machine, the nut counter, and the enormous buffet of mostly-Lebanese specialities have been ripped out, and “for lease” signs have been posted in the windows. Its website is still active, but any page past the front page displays a pwned message from the Indonesian Hacker Brotherhood.

No word on what happened, but it's almost certainly the economy.
Meanwhile, get your Lebanese fix at Andaluz or Olive Tree–not buffets, though still excellent places to dine.
