Big props to OG Karl Strauss Brewing for going back, back, back to their roots (and their roots run deep!) in their new brewpub that just opened in Anaheim across from the Big A. They ditched all alcoholic drinks other than the great tasting beers they brew, and have rebranded themselves as THE premier brewery in the Big Naranja.
Along with their award winning roster of beers, Aurora Hoppyalis IPA, Mosaic Session IPA, Red Trolley Ale to name a few, Karl Strauss has started a small batch program at their new digs, craft beer so good they don't last long—beer today, gone tomorrow! And the grub ain't bad either! Four words: Duck Fat Pretzel Bites. On the scale of Purple Eggplant emoji's these get a rock-hard 5 out of 5! Anyway, the best beers: Singularity Black IPA (8% ABV) gets its roasty toasty on along with a bit of grapefruit, hops galore and ending roastalicious. Fat Guy in a Little Coat (8.9% ABV) is a traditional Scotch Ale, a comfort beer with four malts contributing towards a profile with caramel, slight roast and a wee bit o' chocolate. Pair this with the Asada Fries, and thank me later! And the Tequila Barrel Aged Imperial Pilsner (10.4% ABV) has the Sonora water in the front and the back thanks to aging in barrels of tequila reposado for 16 months. The pilsner turns nice and malty and smooth AF.
Enjoy some great craft beer before the Angel game or just stay and watch it on one of their many big screen TVs. The only thing Karl Strauss can't help: the Angels are further back in the American League West than a one-legged horse in the Kentucky Derby! CHAVALAS!
