Taco USA Gets Praise from Kirkus Reviews!



Believe it or not, I've actually been lagging in my plans to promote my much-promised book, Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America (out April 10) because of my responsibilities with being the editor of your favorite infernal rag and shit. Why, I still have a box of galleys to give out.

Thankfully, others are paying attention, and just got word of a great review from Kirkus Reviews, one of the major trade publications in the book industry.

Calling it “an appealing cultural exploration of Mexican food in the United States” and a “comprehensive narrative,” the review (not up yet) gives a good summation of what I tried to do and concludes, “Readers will come away not only hungry, but with a deeper understanding of the Mexican people and their cuisine.”

Kirkus reviewers are tough to please, so I'm happy they enjoyed the libro–yay! Now, where do I send that bottle of mezcal…
