Sushi Roku To Open First OC Location at Fashion Island

Sushi Roku, the L.A.-based sushi joint probably most known as where the celebrities get their California rolls, is going to open its first Orange County location at Fashion Island across from True Food Kitchen, next to Macy's.

The chain–part of a restaurant group that also owns BOA Steakhouse at WeHo and DTLA–has Sushi Rokus all over the place including Hollywood, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Las Vegas, and Scottsdale.

Sushi Roku will be Fashion Island's second sushi restaurant after Blue C Sushi, the revolving sushi restaurant which opened earlier in the summer, that is, if you're not counting the Japanese place in the food court.

Among the featured dishes to be expected: Salmon Sashimi Basil Wrap, with burrata and a red wine yuzu sauce; Tuna Tartare with yuzu guacamole; and signature hand rolls such as Baked Lobster in creamy miso sauce and Black Truffle Tempura with avocado.

This is not the first, nor probably the last L.A.-tested, high-concept sushi bar to attempt to break into OC. Katsuya tried a few years ago, but failed in spectacular fashion in Laguna Beach in 2013 after only about a year and a half.
