Strawberry Festival in Garden Grove This Weekend

The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival starts Friday at 1 p.m. and continues through the weekend. There will be a parade, strawberry-related food, carnival rides, entertainment, and appearances from the Grand Marshal and local newswoman Christine Devine.

James Hong, whom you might recognize as the voice behind the goose who couldn't have possibly been Po the Panda's father in Kung Fu Panda, will be the Celebrity co-Grand Marshal with Leah Cecil, Miss California, who is, not so coincidentally, from Garden Grove.

But c'mon, you wanna know about that giant strawberry shortcake, right? Yes, it's a tradition–the centerpiece of the festival's opening ceremonies–and it will be sliced up and given away on May 24 at 6 p.m. to all who come.

If you miss it, our Dave Lieberman recommends the strawberry shortcake from Job's Daughters, which he dubs “the only reason for people over the age of 25 to visit the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival: the most insane strawberry shortcake in the county.”

Admission is free. For more info about the event, CLICK HERE.
