Sailor Jerry Donates Over $30,000 to Surfrider Foundation

Tonight, Sailor Jerry Rum will be donating over $30,000 to the Surfrider Foundation at an event held at The Deck in Laguna Beach, including over $3,000 to the South Orange County chapter raised through a November benefit dinner.

The bulk of the $33,300 dollar donation was raised through Sailor Jerry's Summer 2013 charity program, “Buy A Bottle, Save A Wave.” The company is donating $.50 from each bottle sold between August and September at participating California retailers as well as 25 percent of all sales of the Sailor Jerry-Surfrider Benefit T-Shirt.

“The Surfrider Foundation is proud to partner with Sailor Jerry, on the 'Buy a Bottle, Save a Wave' program, said Laura Lee, Director of Marketing and Communications at Surfrider Foundation. “With their shared love of the sea and nautical roots, it was a natural fit to join efforts and help raise some much needed funds for the Foundation's clean water, beach access, and coastal preservation initiatives.”

The Surfrider Foundation was founded in 1984 by several environmentally minded surfers in Malibu, who were concerned about the water quality at their local wave break. The foundation now consists of over 250,000 supporters, activists and members worldwide, and works on clean water, coastal access and other environmental issues. In 2013, Surfrider successfully defeated the Pismo Beach seawall, won reuseable bag ordinances in six California cities and procured additional funding for the California Coastal Commission.
