Roscoe's Chicken And Waffles Questions Why Its Anaheim Location Still Isn't Open, Asks 'Could It Be Racial?'

Last summer, we reported that Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles would be opening in Anaheim. It is now this summer, and we still aren't stuffing our faces with fried deliciousness. What gives?!

It seems that Roscoe's is wondering the same thing. Last evening, the company posted on its Facebook page: “Everyone is wondering why our Anaheim location isn't open yet, and so are we. Call City Hall and ask what is the problem, could it be racial?!?!”

The Los Angeles-based soul food chain was planning to open a location about a half-mile from Disneyland, taking over the closed Chubby's Diner space. We don't yet know the exact reason for the delay, whether it's permit-related or otherwise, but the folks at Roscoe's seem to be losing their patience.

After posting the Facebook status (screenshot provided to us by a tipster), some fans were upset the company would allude that city officials were racist. By this morning, Roscoe's deleted the post and blamed it on “hackers.”

A discussion about race in OC ensued. One commenter wrote, “Deep down, I know the Anaheim officials don't want a soul food restaurant in their city.” Another wasn't satisfied with the retraction, saying, “You, yourself needs to apologize to . . . the city of Anaheim. You're the hacker you speak of.”
