Roosters Fun Bar In Irvine Has Grand Opening This Super Bowl Sunday

Roosters Fun Bar has been open for three weeks, but unless you were stuck waiting behind the train tracks at Sand Canyon and the 5 freeway, you'd never know it exists. That's because it's inside that Great Park of RVs called Traveland USA.While the streets roll up in Irvine sometime between 9 and 10 p.m., the gang at Roosters keep the barn open late--midnight Monday through Wednesday, 2 a.m. the rest of the week. Hell, even the Anthill Pub doesn't keep such late hours. Families with small children are welcome, but don't mistake this for a family restaurant. There's a full bar, 11 big-screen TVs and 10,000 square feet of patio/venue space where alcohol is permitted. I'll drink to that!
As for the menu, it most closely resembles diner fare with a couple of exceptions. The Rooster Melt weighs in at 1/3 pound of Angus, with grilled onions, Thousand Island dressing and Cheddar on grilled Parmesan sourdough. It sources the dough for its New York-style pizza from Al's New York Cafe in Costa Mesa, and weekends include a brekkie selection served at 7 a.m.
Plans for themed happy hours (Franks & Steins Fridays, anyone?) are in the works. Local musicians can look forward to a Battle of the Bands and Wii Rock Band competitions. If that's not your thing, get your Forrest Gump on at the Ping-Pong table. More of an introvert? There's a place to request bread for feeding the duckies. Oh, and the pool table has been ordered. It's like dinner and a staycation rolled into a hay bale.
In the meantime, stop by on Sunday to catch the big game. The grand opening will feature all-day drink specials, live entertainment and freebies. For my commuter guys and gals nearby, here's your place to wait out afternoon traffic. Just pay attention to those spikes on the ground as you exit. No, really. I'm serious.
