I love when specialty shops have a flavor of the month, and Hanayo and Akemi were just as excited to inform me of their featured cupcakes. For the month of April, it is a lavender almond. And next month: MARGARITA!

How did the two of you meet?
Hanayo Martin & Akemi Lee: Our dads are best friends, our moms are best friends and we are best friends.
What's your favorite childhood memory:
Both: Birthday parties together.

When you're not in the bakery, what are you doing in your free time?
A.L.: Anything outdoors and adventurous.
H.M.: Working out.
Hardest lesson you've learned:
Both: Trust.
Last movie watched; how was it?
H.M.: Lone Survivor, and I cried the whole second half.
Last thing you looked up:
Both: Pole dancing and aerial silk yoga class.
Do you have any skills that are not food-related?
H.M.: I'm really good at making out. We are both business savvy.
What did you study in school, and what did you originally want to do as a career?
H.M.: Advertising. I wanted to work on the creative side of a beer or liquor company.
A.L.: Business. First Asian woman president.
