On the Line: Christophe Jardillier of The Globe GastroPub, Part Two

Christophe won't admit to the last thing he looked up online, but he will discuss his love of gardening. I ask a few more questions to our Frenchman before he heads back in the kitchen.

Hardest lesson you've learned: Not cooking for myself and what I like, but cooking for others' tastes.

Where did you grow up? Vichy, France. I came here for my first chef job.

When you're not in the restaurant, what are you doing in your free time? Enjoying TV, spending time with my kids and gardening.

What's your favorite childhood memory? Gardening with my parents and grandparents.

How do you stay in shape? Workout daily and watch what I eat. Nothing new, right?

Last song playing on your radio: One by U2.

Last movie watched or book read; how was it? Movie: 300. It was OK. I like to read Issac Asimov or Bernard Clavel. They're always good.

Do you have any skills that aren't related to food? I'm good at organizing.

What would you be doing if you weren't in this industry? Ha! A gardener, but they don't make enough money.

Is there anything you'd like readers to know about your restaurant? We change the specials to reflect cuisine from all over the world. Every month it's inspired by a different country. It gives me a chance to be creative. I have a passion to cook and enjoy pleasing customers. If you don't see it on the menu, I will make it for you.
